No Escape

This was my "Special Feature" section, from back in the very early 2000s.
Back in those days, I read many other webcomics, and I thought it would be a cool idea
to write "features" on them and highlight the ones I liked. However after 2003 I failed
to keep up with this idea, and I was gradually starting to read less webcomics as well.

Here are the features I wrote in those days. Two of these are sadly completely erased
from the internet, so these features are probably the only preservation they have.

But wait, there's more! On a really old version of my website, we're talking 1999-2002,
I used to also feature some old computer games that I made. At some point I took them down,
and I really don't remember why I did. Let's put em back up, shall we?

Metroid X

Here is the text description I wrote, verbartim, from the 1999-2002 website:

"Here's a computer game that I made myself. I wanted to do my own version of a Metroid game... and that's what this is.
I think it's actually pretty good... although the game engine is kind of choppy. You'll have to try it for yourself and see.
I used some old software called Gamemaker to create it. You can press F1 for instructions during the game."

Do you want to see what it looks like? As a matter of fact, I streamed my old game on
Twitch in 2020! You can watch the entire video here!

Do you want to try playing this game yourself? You'll need DOSBox to be able to run it.
Here is a download for the game (don't worry, it's not a virus!) Download Metroid X here.

This game was made using a very ancient piece of game making software,
Game-Maker by Recreational Software Designs for MS-DOS.

Maze God

Here again is the verbatim text description I wrote from the 1999-2002 website:

"Here's another computer game that a friend and I worked together to make. It's called Mazegod, and it's basically a
puzzle game with mazes and traps. I'm actually pretty proud of it. It's kind of fun if you like this sort of thing, and
the graphics aren't too ugly. The graphics/level design is done by me, and the programing is done by Kevin Weilandt."

Kevin Weilandt was a close friend of mine when I was growing up. We always wanted to make
computer games together. He was to be the programmer, and I was to be the artist / designer.
Well, we DID end up making a game, one game. It was basically finished, unfortunately we
never managed to distribute it anywhere, so no one else ever played it. Well, posssible
someone may have downloaded it from my website in the early 2000s, but I don't recall
a single person ever mentioning that to me.

Sadly, this is a Windows 98 game, and for the life of me I have never been able to figure out
how to get it working again on modern machines. I've tried. I've even asked other
other programmers I know, including contacting my friend Kevin to see if he might be able to
help, but no one has gotten it working so far. I believe it may be possible with a virtual
Windows 98 machine, but that's a bit beyond my technical know-how.

So listen... if anyone out there is at all interested and thinks they might be able to
get this working, by all means, CONTACT ME!

Here is a download for the game (like I said, not a virus.) Download Maze God here.

Since probably no one will ever be able to get this working, including me,
I may as well post the sheet of all the graphics I made, which I fortunately still have.
Check out this sick pixel art from 1999!
